Why METE0RA exists
Open almost any free weather app and count what's on the screen that isn't weather: banners, videos, "premium" buttons, a pop-up asking for your location "to improve our services". The forecast is in there somewhere, between two ads.
The nicest weather app I've ever used ships only on one brand of phone: calm, clear, beautiful animated skies, widgets that just work. Everybody else gets the ad-filled ones.
METE0RA is my answer: that same calm experience, with a few ideas of my own, for every device: any Android phone, iPhone and iPad, Mac, Windows, Linux and the web.
One idea: help people
Weather is not a luxury. It decides whether you take a jacket, whether you water the garden, whether you take the boat out, whether your allergic kid should play outside today. Good forecasts should be for everyone, not just for the people who pay or who accept being tracked.
So METE0RA is free, with no ads, no account and no analytics. Nothing is locked. If you like it, you can support it from inside the app; if you can't, that's fine: you get exactly the same app.
In the next posts I explain where the forecasts come from, how the app stays free, and where the strange name comes from.
